...:Nicolas Radulescu, Conductor

The conductor Nicolas Radulescu, born in Vienna, at first studies musicology and learns several instruments (piano, cello, viola da gamba, harpsichord). His interest in both Early and Contemporary Music results in concert activities and in his attending masterclasses, e.g. by the Hilliard Ensemble, as well as in his becoming a guest lecturer in music history, e.g. for Brigham Young University. After first conducting lessons with his father,  Michael Radulescu, a composer, Early Music pioneer and former conducting student of Hans Swarowsky, he completes his studies (orchestral conducting with Martin Sieghart, choral conducting with Johannes Prinz) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, writing a master’s thesis on measure groupings in Beethoven. In the course of his concert activities he appears in renowned venues such as Vienna’s Konzerthaus and Musikverein, Salzburg’s Mozarteum and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, collaborating with noted soloists and orchestras. Today he conducts the Franz Schmidt Kammerorchester, Camerata Medica Wien and Camerata Pannonica. His artistic focus is the combination of historical theory and performance practice with immediate experience in the present moment.
